That answers a question or two - 27% off both the Big Boy and Swiss Crocodile set.

In fact, 27% off most everything.

Placed my order, it is going to be cheap year for me. BigGrin

Only three items; T18, BR 94.18 & USA cattle wagons 37994. If i did not allready have a Big Boy i would have ordered 37994, but buying a second unit is absolutely crazy.

Enjoy your purchases ladies and gentleman.

seems the prices are very good all round - the new BR23 (39232) about 200+ Euro less than what I paid for the BR23 39230 about a year ago...!

That is just the export handling rate.
3% if you live outside Germany and still within EU, or 2,5% if you live outside EU.

This tax is paying to receiving country or Germany? I have ask around with different vendors inside Germany and they don’t charge this tax if you buy inside EU.

Not the tax but If you use credit card.

Lokshop use the term " duty". This is a handling fee for packaging and the merchant fee that the credit card company charges.

Obviously to cover the credit card company charges because they compensate 99% of this duty if you choose a different method of payment.
I presume they are not allowed to request a higher price from credit card payers only - so they charge this duty from all customers and compensate those who do not use a credit card.

John,

I think they are using the M* retail price - unverbindliche Preisempfehlung - UVP that is quotes in the back of the catalog. Page 192

I changed to Lippe last year and save around 6% or more compared with Lokshop. Good site and English speaking and my bonus is around 30 euros at present.

Have had a look at Modellbahnshop-Lippe site and could only see a few of the new items.

Have also checked their Märklin page, but haven't found new items there .

Has anyone seen on their web page all the new items, and if so where.

Many thanks

Hi et al,
Not sure if this is allowed or not (sorry in advance if I've broken a rule somewhere).

We are offering a discount on our listed prices for the Marklin New Items 2012, the details are on our website.

On a more personal note:
I would encourage you to support your local dealer if you have one. We put a lot of effort into promoting Marklin locally - which costs : (. This is only really possible with the support of the local hard core Marklin buyers.

I know Lokshop etc are the cheapest (easy to do when local taxes are not paid, customs doesn't stop items requesting GST like it should, and Lokshop being many times the size of most local Marklin shops can have very *low* margins) however, besides that, Lokshop etc... doesn’t put back into local clubs, or bring in new Marklin customers in other countries.

We encourage new Markliners to join the local Marklin clubs, knowing full well that some members will encourage them to buy from Lokshop instead of the local. Forgotting, that we give their club a discount for items they have purchased for the club.

If you can spare a little extra, it helps the longer term viability of the product with a new generation of Markliners outside of Europe.

We give our local guys free stuff and local support when things go wrong even when the person is hostile and is completely unreasonable (we all know those people), expecting us to fix items that were not purchased through us in the first place.

We had an older person who had problems, we went to their house to plug the transformer back in. The likes of Lokshop etc..couldn't do that for you.

Consider your local and support them where you can - just something to kindly consider : )
Kind Regards
Dion

Juhan doesn't normally allow commercial advertising of any kind on this forum. You can only advertise items for sale if they are coming from your personal collection.

Dion, I've edited your post slightly to remove discount figures, and to refer people directly to the Toottoot website.

With this link if you open an account (which costs you nothing) ThumpUp you can then see the prices without MwstSneaky BigGrin
That is applicable for us who live South of the Med, West of Greenwich, or about six hours East, which includes Barbados Wink

Actually too easy to then slam every thing in your cart, but which you can still think about before you Check out. Just don't leave it till after the item is sold out as I have often done Smile ThumbDown

Not surprising that price is everything for many people these days. As mentioned above supporting your local dealer is the best thing to do but if their prices are more than 5 - 10% higher then I would not consider it.
I understoood that any Marklin dealer would be prepared to assist in warranty claims etc no matter where the item was purchased but I may be wrong.
I have found Lok Shop very helpful and now Lippe the same but with a good saving on price. In the UK I would but from a local dealer if they match the German prices but there is not one and I expect never will be.
If Marklin want to sell overseas then they should assist with overseas trade prices etc but of course they wont.
Model rail is an expensive hobby with high mark up required to keep manufacturing going.

The Lokshop prices for the 2012 new items are discounted, but are only available for pre orders, and only until the end of the Toy Show. Lokshop will no doubt discount prices after that, but not by any where as much as they are at the moment.

Been a Lokshop customer since 2000. VEry happy with them. The "3% export fee" is a recovery of the fee that credit card charge to stores to use their service. As it is stated in all credit card contracts that stores are not allowed to increase prices for credit card payments, Lokshop has to recover this fee via this gimmik of the "export fee". This is not a tax in anyway.

If you take the net price (-MWSt), this represents more than enough to cover for shipping and the export fee. We outside the EU end up paying less that our german friends.

Based on these prices I will pre-order soon Drool

If you pre ordering on an item that is not yet produced, is your credit card debited when doing the final stage of check out?
Or are they after the card number so that when the model/s come in stock they then debit that amount?
I ask because I would like to take advantage of the discount but don't quite have the full amount, but I am assuming by the time the items I am interested in are produced I should be able to cover it.

Usually I only order when I have the funds, but as i said I would like to take advantage of the what seems to be good discount.

Hi Tony, Lokshop only debit your card when they actually ship the item(s).

When I first looked the Insider "Donald Duck" was allways 503.36 excl Mwst, as apposed to the 37788 ICE III Set @ 366.64eu excl Mwst. However they were both 599.95 on the new Items price list Wink Scared

Very special, very exclusive, very expensive - but no word of "limitation" in the advertising text in the product database.
Sounds like a typical "one-time series" where they produce as many locos as are pre-ordered.

....well, they have to give ultimate orders during Nuremberg fair period....they have to negociate prices and quantities with Marklin at the same period, they need to know the global amount of orders they will place to Marklin this year....To get some special discount there is a deadline. The sooner they give engagement, the better conditions they will get....IMO it will not last a very long time, it means they need a kind of "insurance",...it's also a kind of test because they need visibility...IMO, they play a risky game too .(just because there are more and more short series or limited series on which they can't play the game....)

Hello Greg,
Their "old site" as they call it, the one I refer to mainly, is indeed offline for "maintenance", use;
www.lokshop.de or the link in a recent post above, meantime and just put the items your interested in in your cart by using the "product lookup" feature, with say MAR37810. Sign in to get the price minus Mwst and then save the list. You can refer to it later ThumpUp You will also ideally have saved the "New items" brochure pdf to refer to.

Cheers
Glen

I just placed a large order with Lokshop. Hope that they are as good as some of you guys says...
I can't find where it says that the prices are to the end of the Toy-Fair either. Seems strange not to show this important information to your customers. Confused

The prices at Lippes seems to go up and down every day. A bit of a "silly season" really. But Lokshops prices are by far the best. Too good to pass on...

Hi Glen,

Thanks for the tip. Like so many of us here on the forum, I've sent a hugh order to Lokshop. The only concern I have, apart from paying for it, is that the new items will be released at different times of the year. Therefore, Lokshop will charge me for freight each time and that will negate any of the special savings. Do you think they might be able to bundle them and say send them in 2 deliveries? I've asked, but haven't had a reply, probably too busy at the toy show.

I had ordered BR.01 #39016 from Lokshop. Their price was 11% lower than modellbahn-lippe and 27% lower than Marklin's SRP. I also have pending-order at Lokshop since last year, due to unavailability of some items. Few days ago, I emailed them to ship all available items and forget the unavailable ones, but no response from them. I clicked the "Request Order Status" button, but nothing emailed to me as well. (There is no problem with their email system, because I received acknowledgement email almost immediately upon ordering the #39016). Probably they're very busy now.

I wouldn't worry Tiono, Lokshop normally send out an autostatus each week showing what items they have and what is on backorder. If you have asked them to ship items, you should shortly get an invoice in pdf format. Give them a few days.

Gleg, without starting an order I cannot show the exact spot, but from Memory (faulty these days) it is under delivery instructions.
OR an email asking/telling no partial deliveries. They do not like holding on to stock to long BUT you may point out thet you are willing to pay when the item comes into stock BUT do not POST until entire order is filled. AS long as it is under $1000 you are fireproof.

Thanks for that Nev, I had a similar experience just lately - I had a fairly large order, all in stock, except for the 60962 decoder; eventually Elisabeth from Lokshop asked if I rather wanted to cancel the order as the decoder was simply not available from M - I promptly asked for a partial delivery.
Can you believe it - not even 4 days after my parcel left Lokshop, the decoder suddenly became available!!
At least Elisabeth is only charging me 5 Euro postage, and not the normal 20 Euro to South Africa. (Well done Lokshop).
I have a large order in right now, but I have that feeling I am going to wait a LONG time for the MS2's (60653) to arrive from M, and I will follow your advice when all the other items are in and they become agitated to partially deliver!
Thanx! Joe

Seems as Lokshop received more orders than their capacity to handle. They become jittery to hold items, and expected partial delivery as soon as some of the ordered items were available.
They cancelled my previous order because of that.
Now I'm starting to look for another shop as an alternative, modellbahn-lippe is one of the option. But on their terms & conditions for delivery outside EU, there is something I don't understand, like this:

Additional customs duties and fees will be charged for deliveries to countries abroad the European Union.
Details can be found for example at:
http://europa.eu.int/com...cgi-bin/tarchap?Lang=DE.

That link is outdated.
I have sent email to modellbahn-lippe asking about that, but no reply till now.
Probably somebody here will be able to explain?

I think what it means is that goods to be delivered to some countries, the company sending the goods might be charged custom duty/tax of the receiving country and accordingly you also will be charged. (Hope that made senseBlink) What countries they might be, I have no idea.

I know that if I keep my order under $A1k I don't require to pay custom duty/GST.

By the way, great company to deal withBigGrin

I hope from forum threads such as this one,
Marklin Gmbh learns their vital lesson:

"We shouldn't ever try to dictate any discount that our dealers will want to offer to their customers."

This is a great and dynamic discussion about a dealer's pricing and relationship, between commoners who are already established Marklin customers.

After the 3% rebate; the annual rebate if you join their forum site; and simpler freight costs, ModellBahnshop-Lippe is cheaper overall.
The price guarantee specifically includes the freight cost, as they are clearly aware of some of their competitor's tactics.

Be aware that some items are advertised with "no bonus points". RTFS.

Hi Forum
Yesterday I received an email notice from Lockshop saying that they have shipped my order which was placed for a couple of their special discount items during end January/1st week February.
Instructions with the order specifically stated that the order was to be shipped only when complete to save shipping costs. However on checking the notice I find that it is a
part order Huh !!.
What do I do, is it possible that Lockshop have already factored in the shipping costs of the complete order and I will not be wacked with another shipping cost?Love!!.
I have sent them a mail together with the original order and instructions.I await their reply.Shipping being so costly it might wipe out all the savings!!!.ThumbDown ThumbDown ThumbDown.I even would not mind if they debit me for the items that are ready and hold them till the whole order is complete.
Forum please advise.
Warm Regards
Jay

Hi Jay - had the same happen to me recently; always a bummer for us in SA where the postage is quire steep. Elisabeth from Lokshop explained to me that like any business they make their money on payments received for orders, not holding the stuff they already paid for. In some cases this could mean them holding onto items for months without receiving payment. She suggested I pay for the items still on back order, without costs, and they then keep the oder till everything arrives, thus only paying a once-off postage.
Works well for me...Joe, in Cape Town
PS....You should have received a mail advising that they will send a partial delivery tho....they always ask me if I want a partial delivery, or if I want to cancel the order...

Hi Joe,thank you very much for your reply, very much appreciated I am sure.I will send an email care of Elisabeth at Lokshop and make the suggestion that she debit me for the whole amount and hold until ready. No Joe I did not receive mail asking me if a partial order can be sent nor did I receive a reply to my communication
To Lokshop. Now that I have a name (thanks to you) it brings this email thing to a more personel level.

Has anyone noticed they have reduced the price of the Marklin CS2 60215 to 486.55euro (exclusive of Mwst) the same price as they have on the Ecos 50200, ThumpUp (except the M CS2 doesn't come with a power pack) Glare

It is showing as temporarily not available from producer, but I'd guess they'll be backing up a few orders, but not from me at this stage Wink

Does anyone have a direct email address for Lokshop? They sent me a payment notice and I"m still waiting for one last item on my order (Makies gravel set due out this month)

Emails to their generic emails (payment@lokshop, shop@lokshop etc..) are not replied. They already billed me for the rest, so they have their money. (and I'm ok with paying early) I just will have to cancel the makies set as shipping will make it expensive enough that I'd much rather support a US dealer and purchase stateside

I tried but sure enough, no luck. I got a shipping notice for everything but the Makies set today.

Hopefully they will comply with the emails to cancel the set. I sent about 6 clear emails in response to all of their payment notifications saying to hold the package (which I've already paid for) until the makies train arrives, and not one response...

I'm starting to get really frustrated with european dealers. I only order from them rarely, and do so in clear basic english, but every time something goes sour on me. I will give a big thumbs up to lokshops automated order updates/payment/shipping system though. light years ahead of the rest...

Please, you should consider that retail prices in Europe (& in many other countries) are always announced "complete" including taxes, this is the law.
I have been told that Lokshop already had been gently warned because of their ADVERTISING in which prices were given without VAT....thus creating some confusion .
If you were any kind of a retailer, I let you imagine what you feel if some competitors suddenly decided to cover the land with big advertising panels + prices given with no VAT in big lettering...
I don't even talk about the confusion among customers...
Lokshop'policy clearly targets at overseas customers, but they have to respect advertising & communication rules : the true retail-price must be shown up & highlighted ...

The advantage of not paying VAT is not a gift from the retailer. It is given by law to a certain category of customers living outside the country of the seller. This operation is linked with the state of the customer who has to ask and specify his situation.
The rule normally is to advertise the retail full price. You may add a mention where you specify exemption of VAT for export deliveries...,

An update here- they shipped last week without the makies set (which of course came out this week...) A real bummer as now I'll probably forego this set, since it is way to expensive to justify purchasing in the US
