The mountain is made up of 5/6bits of 1x2 woodern batterns then about 300 1inch strips of thick card interwoven and stuck with hot melt glue gun. that was then covered with mod rock. When that is dry I mixed up some brushablel poly filler and brush that on all over to cover the weave of the mod rock. I also added a bit of grey paint to the Polly filler so if a bit gets knocked of it will not show white. That is left to dry for about 2days then we go over it with a wide old hack saw blade to get the high bits of then it scored all over with the Same blade to get the detail on it. Kevin my train friend does that he is fantastic at that sort of thing. Weathering is not my forta I like building and making tunnel mouths.

Hi Charles. Layout looks great! It reminds me of the layout back around 1970 in New York City on 5th Ave. at the Swissair ticket office. They always ran the 3015 Croc and the 3050 Ae6/6. Just beautiful. Cheers,PeterThumpUp Smile

Brilliant layout, Charles! ThumpUp

How many trains can you run at the same time?

I would love to see a track diagram, but if you don't have one, then maybe more pics of other parts of the layout so we can see where the trains go to and come from.

Hello Ray.

If I am my own I can run 7 put you need eyes in the back of your head. If Kevin my train friend comes for the day we could run 11 but 2 more MS2's would help. I had no track plane it just evolved as I went along. It is not based on anywhere at all and I am sure there are lots of things that are completely wrong about it but I like it and I am really loving making it.

Hello Rob.

The bridge is not to bad to build what I would say it is not wide enough to take 2 pieces of c track as it stands. We set too and cut it in half built it up with plasti card and some strips of wood and to finish it off we put chequer plate each side of the track and down the middle again that was plasti card. It was a lot of work but I am pleased with the finished result. I know nobody can see it up there but it does look nice . Know it is fixed in you are unable to see all the work but I will post a close up of it at the week end for you. Today more small bits of greenery and trees have Ben added to the mountain.

I guess that it is manufactured for "K" track.
Our ETE layout uses "K" and we lay it on some NOCH roadbed.
What I have is the Faller Viaduct 120488 which is 38cm in length.
It will be our only module with a bridge and my next project is t modules with tunnels to place on each side.
Everything is in the box at present.

Hi Charles,

AND........it is truly a work of art.

From my perspective, it takes a bit of courage to go to those (shall I say it?) .... heights. The frames for the mountains, and the general flow of the trackwork, and how it fits the terrain, are highlights for me.

regards
Kimball

Hello.

I forgot to mention that the section behind the tractor with the trees on it comes out so does the tunnel mouth next to it so you can get to the tracks when you have a derailment.

Hello.

No it it not a silly question. As you will see when I put some more images on of other parts of the layout roads and people do not play a big part on this layout but as for the ski lift there is a virtual lift going from lower level to the ground station. Very bad planning on my part.

Your layout is almost exactly the layout I want to build and enjoy in the future. I just love the bridges, the scenery, the whole thing really. The picture of the Re 460 with IC2000 train, just wonderful.
Great build and do continue to show us pictures. This will really inspire me!

Hello Oliver.

I am glad you like it. I like the 406 loco and I bought the Marklin red mfx 460 about 4 years ago. I had seen a image of one with the ice2000 coaches on it and I said to my self I want one. The coaches are hag and I bought them secondhand in January this year. I just need to get a First Class coach and the restaurant car. When I have saved up I would like to add lights to each of the coaches but you are looking at about £65 each coach. Please keep looking as I will be putting some more images on soon.
